The Stone Mill

November 30, 2012

The intimate and rustic Stone Mill at the NYBG is the perfect spot for smaller weddings, and it offers a beautiful outdoor ceremony location. This wedding used one of my favorite color schemes: shades of purple with fresh green to set off the cool tones. There was a lovely natural quality to all the decor.

For her flowers, the bride requested fresh artichokes (we used the preserved dried type to keep the bouquet from being too heavy), cream roses, silver gray brunia, fresh lavender, and bright green hypericum berries. Finished with a stem wrap of lace from her gown, the unique combination made a very striking one-of-a-kind bouquet.

The bridesmaids carried colorful bouquets with a interesting section of flowers – from pastel lavender spray roses and stock to deep purple allium, fragrant fresh lavender, airy bupleurum and mossy green dianthus.

Small sprays for the mothers to carry and boutonnieres for the gentleman carried out the theme with a stem wrap of rustic sisal.

The entrance window sill is one of my favorite spots; the perfect place for a welcoming arrangement to introduce the style of the wedding decor.
